What happens when you use electronic devices for a excessive period of time? It overheats. That is what happens with our brain. The point of homework is to increase the knowledge and improve the abilities and skills of the students. Homework should not be given out on the grounds that kids do not have enough free time, more school work is much more efficient, and excessive stress is created by an overdose of homework.
The point of assigning homework is to increase the knowledge and improve the abilities and skills of the students. But real life is at odds with that. Kids get off from school at three in the afternoon, anytime after is mostly spent doing homework and studying. Kids are very active after school, whether its spending time with family and friends, practicing a sport, or just playing with their pet.
Kids are suppose to practice and learn in a classroom, and study what they have learned at home. But doing the same thing a thousand times is a bit too much, because does doing fifty math questions accomplish more than doing five? Memorizing words is not the best way to increase vocabulary especially if reading does a better job. So what is better? Quantity of education, or the quality of education? Eliminating homework will make kids happier in class, therefore more productive. Because if kids have afternoons free of work, then there is no excuse that they should slack off during school. It is the same as jobs and careers.
Kids will also have to work harder and get more work done in class because kids are much more motivated to get it done instead of leaving it to do as homework. The advantages of school work over homework are undeniable, why make kids suffer more if an easier and more productive option is available. It may be incredible, but some college students have more work than some part time job schedules, this is a path that leads to childhood stress. Homework is also stealing time away from kid’s childhood, therefore depriving them of critical social skills. Stress builds inside students and can affect sleep preventing concentration in class. Education is very important to make a successful child, but too much of a workload and stress can cause the child to go into depression.
Finally, homework takes away students of their free time, leaves students unmotivated for school, and causes unnecessary stress and problems in students' lives.
